Late November, there was a music festival in Koudougou, 90km out of Ouaga, Les Nuits Atypiques de Koudougou. I could not make it, because I was otherwise busy visiting some rice growers in Tougan near the Malian border, but my sister went… so brought home a couple of Brazilian musicians and a slice of the festival to share with me and all the children of the street. Our very own concert on our little terrasse in Samandin ! Eléonore’s friends were staying with us waiting until their flight to Sao Paulo took off, so we had a couple of hours of singing and dancing to Brazilian and Burkinabè rythms. Great mix of music and cultures ! Aïcha was dancing graciously in her dusty shorts, Ali could not believe his eyes, looking at their three… yes, three guitars… how famous must you be to get so many ! He eventually got back to his new job, plating hair at a barber shop around the corner, stars in his eyes… So to see us ‘remuer les reins’ or ‘shake your kidneys’, as it literally translates into, just look at the photos below!
And for some mellow original Brazilian vibes
